Spud State No More?

Oh well I guess it's better than *some* state mottos.

"A state lawmaker wants to peel Idaho's standard license plate of the legend 'Famous Potatoes' in a battle over whether the lowly spud should symbolize a state whose major export is high technology.

Frank Muir, president of the Idaho Potato Commission, is irked over the proposal, which he says undercuts the spud's considerable contributions to the state. After beating back the onslaught of low-carb diets in recent years, the last thing the Idaho potato industry expected was to be mashed at home, he said..."

Hey, have you ever eaten an Ice Cream Baked Potato?

Sunset Showdown ~ You Decide

Mrs. Geezer and I both took pictures of the sunset from our back porch.

I think they were taken about a day apart.

Which is the better shot?

Why?

The winner gets a Treat.

Roundabouts: Good or Bad?

(Yeah, I know the traffic is going backwards, it's the only gif I could find.)

A Roundabout is a traffic circle that replaces an intersection. They are popular in Europe, which should be enough to make me question their value.

I don't remember hearing anything positive about them from friends who had them installed in their neighborhoods. I think their complaint was that when trucks got in the middle, they had trouble getting out safely. Here in I-Dee-Ho, we have trucks pulling 2 and 3 trailers.
Not to mention ungainly farm equipment.

How about all you Big-City-Folks telling us what you think.

"...There are no traffic signals and entering traffic yields to circulating traffic, which always keeps moving. A study by the Institute for Highway Safety indicates roundabouts reduce crashes by 75 percent at intersections where stops signs and signals were previously used..."

SobekPundit

Occasionally, Egyptian Crocodile god, Sobek, treats us to another Blogger Interview. They crack me up.

Even though Sobek now resides *in Las Vegas*, he isn't *of Vegas*.
After reading the Six-Meat-Buffet Interview, scroll down and read all the rest.

"Welcome to yet another SobekPundit Blogger Interview, a more-or-less regular feature that I use to while away the dreary hours of my seemingly interminable existence. This week I've asked Preston Taylor Holmes of Six Meat Buffet to join me, and he kindly accepted. And by 'accepted' I mean 'screamed at the top of his lungs because Dave from Garfield Ridge can't lord it over him anymore.'..."

Secret Worlds ~ Let's Get Small

Here's a pretty cool Java app. It doesn't take that long to download.

"View the Milky Way at 10 million light years from the Earth. Then move through space towards the Earth in successive orders of magnitude until you reach a tall oak tree just outside the buildings of the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory in Tallahassee, Florida. After that, begin to move from the actual size of a leaf into a microscopic world that reveals leaf cell walls, the cell nucleus, chromatin, DNA and finally, into the subatomic universe of electrons and protons..."

Ultralite Crash

I just realized that Dave at Garfield Ridge sent some of the faithful over here. I'll try to rise to the occasion:

Since Dave likes Movies-with-a-Message, Injuries and Bloodshed, I submit this link to an Ultralite Crash.

Come on... Flying an Ultralight Aircraft in an area populated by Trees?

What was he thinking?

This page is powered by Blogger. Isn't yours?

Full disclosure;
I've been offered a free firearms training course at Front Sight in exchange for posting these links.
Since I've already taken one of their excellent courses, I jumped at the chance to get a free one.
