Sunrise Alert

.
.

I was making coffee for Mrs. Geezer and looked out my kitchen window. I saw the sunrise was going to look nice behind our windmill so I grabbed the camera and went outside in my PJ's.
Got a nice shot of the sunrise and another shot of Charlie The Neighbor driving by, looking at me standing there in the snow in my bare feet.
Just kidding, I had on my rubber mud boots... and my PJ's.

First Snow Bunny

Well it really isn't the first snow bunny but yesterday was the first real snowfall of the year... big fluffy flakes.
Did I mention that we have a plethora of bunnies around the old homestead?
We started with one Handsome Stranger of a bunny who wandered in one day about 2 years ago. "Hey Honey look, a bunny". He was kind of tan or buff colored, we called him the Mega Bunny because he was Huge. He hopped around and ate the grass for a couple of months but we could see that he was lonely.
One day a beautiful white rabbit showed up and they figured out who was the boy and did what rabbits are known for. The first time we saw the little babies, my wife just squealed... (actually she still does).
We have about 30 rabbits around here now. They probably are doing damage with their digging but I can't get too upset about it. The fricken gophers are another matter. The rabbits are pretty tame. Sometimes you can get almost close enough to touch them before they casually hop away.

Fast Go-Ped

Do you know what a Go-Ped(tm) is?

Imagine a scooter with a little whiny 2-stroke engine on the back. (think lawn trimmer)
Imagine someone putting a Big Engine on one.
Imagine a skinny kid in a t-shirt racing a souped up Trans-Am with it.

Guess who wins?

I'm guessing that this race took place in California so I'm going to trackback to California Conservative.

World's Ugliest Dog Dies

..."Sam, the dog whose ugliness earned him TV appearances, limousine rides and even a meeting with millionaire Donald Trump, has died"...

Poor Guy... He may have been ugly but he was loved.

Sony recalls risky 'rootkit' CDs

"Record label Sony BMG Music Entertainment said Tuesday that it will recall millions of CDs that, if played in a consumer's PC disc drive, will expose the computer to serious security risks."...

..."Half a million people at risk?
Although more than 2 million of the Sony discs have been sold, it's still unclear how many of those were actually played in a Windows-based computer, thus triggering the security risks. Sony notes that the copy-protection software is not activated on an ordinary CD or DVD player, or on a Macintosh computer..."

Gee, I wonder if there will be a class-action lawsuit?

Just another reason to buy a Mac.

Digital Rights Management Gone Too Far

"Last week when I was testing the latest version of RootkitRevealer (RKR) I ran a scan on one of my systems and was shocked to see evidence of a rootkit. Rootkits are cloaking technologies that hide files, Registry keys, and other system objects from diagnostic and security software, and they are usually employed by malware attempting to keep their implementation hidden"

The article is pretty techno-geeky but you should try to at least skim it.

Hawk Encounter

I walked outside to start my car this morning and was surprised to see a Hawk, sunning himself on the roof of my work-truck. I had been outside for a couple of minutes before I noticed him. He seemed pretty calm so I took a couple of photos with my camera phone. I wanted to get a better shot so I went inside to get my regular camera and shot a few photos through the kitchen window.
I have seen hawks in my yard before but never this close. I think it was a Red-Tailed Hawk. He was probably waiting for the bunnies to frolic in the grass but they were understandably absent.
I'll try to post the camera phone pictures also.

Justice? 8 year-old Iranian Boy

This is what happens to an 8 Year Old Iranian Boy Caught Stealing Bread in a country ruled by The Religion of Peace.

Update: The site was swamped and ran out of bandwidth.
(probably not due to My link)
LGF has a bunch of interesting comments:

Gee... maybe it was just a way for the poverty stricken father to make money.
I don't think they would allow this in the United States.

Update: Those readers who were skeptical of the title, it turns out, were correct; Baikal contacted the publisher, Peykeiran, and after a confusing exchange received the following reply:

Hi!
It seems you have not read the text that came with the pictures.
In irna
there some who earn their bread by Maareke giry. In our case one
of these maarke giry had hired a kid to do those unhuman show.
You read the text that came with photos.
bye
